1 in 4 women will experience intimate partner violence (IPV) in their lifetime.1 in 7 women will report that violence. Almost half of the nation’s sexual assault service providers have a 6-month or more waiting list for counseling services. In 2019, in a 24-hour period across the U.S., IPV survivors made 11,366 requests that were unmet because of insufficient resources. And that’s just for the reported cases. The lifetime economic cost associated with IPV-related injuries, in the form of lost productivity from paid work, criminal justice, and other medical costs is $122,461 over a single woman’s lifetime.
